Our Story

The Fashion Arts Sewing Studio was founded by Clara Lopez-Castro, a fashion designer with over 25 years of professional experience in New York City’s fashion industry. Trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Clara brings real-world expertise into every class she teaches.

After relocating to Boca Raton, she recognized a growing interest in fashion design and sewing within the community. What began as teaching through local arts organizations soon evolved into a dedicated studio—created to give students of all ages a supportive, hands-on environment to learn, create, and build confidence through fashion and sewing.

Today, the studio offers a range of classes for both adults and children, from foundational sewing skills to advanced design programs, including the Fashion Design Academy certificate course.

Fashion and sewing are not just skills — they’re tools for confidence, creativity, and self-expression.

Clara Lopez-Castro is a seasoned fashion designer who has worked in New York City’s Garment District as Design Director for brands such as Carter’s Outerwear, Little Me, and Bon Bebe.

As an instructor, Clara is known for her encouraging, approachable teaching style and her passion for helping students turn creative ideas into finished, wearable pieces. Her goal is to make fashion and sewing accessible, inspiring, and empowering for everyone who walks into the studio.
