Lesson Info
1. Crochet Creations Introduce kids to the basics of crochet, such as making simple chains, knots, or basic shapes like squares or circles. They can create small projects like keychains, bookmarks, or small pouches to take home. 2. Hand-Sewing Projects Provide fabric squares, colorful thread, and needles for campers to try simple hand-sewing techniques. They can create small items like stitched bookmarks, fabric appliqué designs, or decorative pieces that they can take home. 3. Quilting Teach campers how to make a simple quilt block, like a patchwork design. They can cut fabric into squares and then stitch them together by hand to create a small quilted piece. This could even be a collaborative project where each child adds a square to a larger camp quilt! 4. Hand-Stitched Embroidery Show kids basic embroidery stitches like the running stitch, backstitch, or French knots. They can work on small fabric pieces to create designs like flowers, animals, or fun patterns, which can then be turned into patches or framed as keepsakes. 5. Painted T-Shirts Set up a t-shirt painting station where kids can use fabric paints or markers to create their own custom t-shirts. They can draw designs, paint patterns, or even try stenciling techniques to make unique designs. It's a fun way to incorporate art while creating something they can wear home! 6. Felt Crafting & Sewing Provide colorful felt and sewing materials to create simple sewn crafts, such as felt animals, small pouches, or decorative pins. Kids can learn to hand-stitch felt shapes together and embellish them with beads or buttons. 7. Patchwork Pillows Teach campers to create simple patchwork pillows using fabric squares and hand-sewing. They can choose fabrics and stitch them together to form a unique pillow, which they can stuff and finish with a hand-stitched border. 8. Appliqué Fabric Art Show campers how to use the appliqué technique to attach fabric shapes to a background fabric using hand-stitching. They can make fun shapes like hearts, stars, or animals to create colorful designs on fabric squares that they can take home as decorative pieces or small wall hangings. 9. Upcycled Crafting Encourage kids to use old t-shirts or fabric scraps to create new fabrics into reusable bags, coasters.,
